Borja Golán

Professional squash player since 2002, has reached a highest ranking of 5 in the world in 2014. Two-time European champion and 16 times Spanish champion. At 38 years of age, he currently seats at 30 th in the world ranking. In addition to having a degree in journalism, Borja has been organizing squash camps with both juniors and adults for years. Currently, in addition to being the director of this Academy, he is the Galician coach, collaborates with World Enjoyer organizing camps throughout Europe and also runs its own camps during the summer in Urban Squash Cleveland (USA). Its objective is to make all the players reach their maximum potential while enjoying squash and being true warriors on the court; and the most important thing: being good people and peers outside of it.

Former Spanish national coach who has won the only gold medal for the Spanish National Team in a European Championship (with the U16 in Wales in 1996). In addition to being Galician number 1 for much of the 90s, Jesús has stood out in the master’s category, being European runner-up at +40 and +45 age groups. Jesús also has a diploma in Physical Training from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Since 1997 he has been the coach of Borja Golán, being a fundamental piece in his progression. Jesús will contribute with all his experience to get the most out of the players who come to the Academy.

Pablo Rodríguez

Trainer

National squash coach and monitor. Pablo has spent years training players like Martina Flores or Lucas Castillo (Spanish junior champions), Fernando Ferrer or Mauro Vilas (Galician junior champions) and pros like Inés Gómez among many others. He has also been one of the best junior players in Galicia in his age group and has more than 12 years of experience as a coach. In recent years he has helped prepare players like Borja Golán and Carlos Cornes for their international competitions so he also has a lot of experience working with professional players. Its objective is to get the most out of the players and to enhance values ​​such as respect, tolerance, honesty and responsibility.

Certified Physical Trainer and Trainer, Senior Technician in Physical and Sports Activities with a Master’s Degree in High Performance Training, André will be the Academy’s physical trainer. In addition to working since many years with athletes, triathletes and cyclists, he has also trained Carlos Cornes for a couple of years so he already has experience in our sport.

André is passionate about his work, developing it based on the most recent developments to be able to apply what sports science tells us in sports planning in order to advise athletes so they can improve their performances and achieve their goals.

On the other hand, André, in addition to carrying out individualized training planning, will advise on nutrition and sports supplementation, carrying out a monthly anthropometric control and body composition.

Dr. Adrián Gallego

Doctor

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela, he has specialized in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology. In addition to several prestigious Master’s degrees, he has a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine and is currently pursuing his PhD. Furthermore, Dr. Gallego is the Head of the medical services of the CD Lugo of soccer of the 2nd Division, of Rotogal Boiro Voley (Men’s Super League 1) and of Noia Futsal (Division 2). In the Academy he will play the same role being the head of the medical services, advising the players in case of injury or any problem that may arise in the medical-sports side. A reference in his field of work that will add value to this ambitious project.

Graduated in Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and with a Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology, Pascal speaks English and French fluently. In addition to his academic preparation, Pascal is the current Galician squash champion, he has been playing for the last 19 years, participating in the Junior Spanish National Team on numerous occasions and playing the Professional Circuit (PSA) for many years. He is currently Borja Golán’s training partner. His mission as a sports psychologist is to help athletes achieve their best version on a day-to-day basis so that they can achieve their goals.

Pascal Gómez

Isaac Barreiro

Masseur

A former rugby player and former professional basketball coach, he has been dedicated to sports massage for the past 25 years. In addition to treating professional athletes in athletics, rugby, basketball and cycling, he has been Borja Golán’s massage therapist since 1997. Isaac will be the official masseur of the Academy so that all players recover well after their training sessions.
